Navigating Self-Therapy
& Post-Surgical Recovery
Feelings of mortality, loss, and vulnerability often follow an operation. Post-surgical depression can be profound; therefore, recognition and treatment must become a standard part of post-surgical care.
Touch is a powerful tool in healing, deeply linked to pain therapy and sensory regulation. Our perception of the body is shaped by both touch and vision: the more an area is touched and observed, the more distinctly it is mapped in the sensory cortex. This process fosters a renewed sense of ownership and confidence.
This project introduces three self-therapy tools, integrated into a therapeutic framework, to guide patients through this recovery. By utilizing these tools, patients are empowered to discover, understand, and ultimately accept their transformed physical and psychological state.
